Gravitational Wave Summer Camp

July 19 - 21, 2016

Join us for a three-day summer camp about high throughput

computing and the hunt for gravitational waves with LIGO

The Institute for CyberScience and the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos will host a three-day summer camp for Centre Region high school students to learn about searching for gravitational waves. There will be hands-on experience building and operating a miniature high throughput computer cluster. In addition, students will participate in informal lectures on gravitational wave astrophysics, data analysis and computing.

Registration and Cost

***Due to an overwhelming response, our camp enrollment has exceeded capacity and all remaining applications will be placed on a waiting list.***

There is no cost to attend the summer camp. We anticipate accepting approximately 10 students from grades 9-12 and we encourage a diverse climate among our participants. Applicants meeting the qualifications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

The deadline for registration is June 27, 2016.

Please note: This is not a residential camp and students will need to arrange for transportation daily.
